I have come across a lot of men that really do not understand why their hair just sticks out on the side or why the back of their hair at the crown just stands up. It is really very simple. Just comb it in the direction that it grows. Everyone has a some form of a cowlick or growth pattern. Your stylist should be able to also identify this. Something to think about is how long or short your hair is and if you have not had a haircut. men need to understand that your hair grows approximately 1/2 inch a month. Yes, and if your hair is not growing then it is falling out. You can pick the lesser of the two evils. Most men gripe about having to get a haircut, consider it a gift that your have hair that needs to be trimmed.
Some cowlicks require hair products to force to lay flat. So that means you will need to invest in wax, pomade or gel.
Tools to determine how style that cowlick:
- Start with a clean head of hair, slightly damp
- Small mirror
- 1 comb
- Wax, pomade or gel
After you have applied your product in your hair( optional) for stubborn hair, hold the mirror and turn your head using the your vanity mirror to see yourself. Take your comb and comb that trouble spot in the direction that it grows out from. If you have been coming it straight down or the opposite direction, it will pop-out, or stick up. If after this step your hair still pops-out, you will need to do two things.
- Add more product to that trouble spot
- Schedule a hair cut appointment because your hair has grown (4 weeks averages about 1/2 in.)
- Find a New stylist that really takes the time to know and cut your hair as well as consults.
